| | | | | Social responsibility at Eletrobras is considered strategic for the company’s business; that is, take energy and sustainable development for the country. This commitment is present in its mission, vision and in the set of organizational values and in the transversality of its electric power programs.
As a form of directing its efforts and social responsibility actions, Eletrobras developed the Guidelines which lead all of its projects and social programs. In addition, these Guidelines set forth an opportunity for dialogue with stakeholders.
Among the initiatives in the social scope, Eletrobras highlight the valuation of diversity in its functional team by means of its Gender Equity Program, the concern with the environment and with social inclusion by means of the Jointly Selective Collection Program and the incentive to local development by means of the implementation of Centros Comunitários de Produção (Production Community Centers - CCPs) developed in the rural communities favored by the National Program for Universal Access To and Use of Electric Power (Luz para Todos).
The disclosure of the social-environmental responsibility actions occurred by means of the publication of the Social and Environmental Balance of the years 2005 and 2006, representing the transparency and communication with all stakeholders. Regarding the year 2007, it was decided to have a challenge of publishing one single Socio-environmental Report with the involvement of all companies of Eletrobras and based on the Aneel model. An acknowledgment for the good practices of social responsibility, besides the economic-financial and environmental sustainability, is the inclusion of Eletrobras in the Corporate Sustainability Index of the São Paulo Stock Exchange (ISE/Bovespa), which gathers companies with shares at Bovespa with the best practices in business citizenship. |
