Eletrobras President, José da Costa Carvalho Neto, presented the company's investments for 2012 and evaluated 2011 in an event held with journalists from different types of media, today, in downtown Rio. Eletrobras Officers Miguel Colasuonno, Chief Administrative Officer, Armando Casado, Chief Financial and Investor Relations Officer, and Marcos Aurélio Madureira, Chief Distribution Officer, and Albert de Melo, CEO of Eletrobras Cepel and Josias Matos de Araújo, CEO of Eletrobras Eletronorte also attended the meeting.

José da Costa emphasized that it will be invested a total amount of near R$ 13.2 billion next year. Most part of it is concentrated on generation, with R$ 6.8 billion, and transmission, with R$ 3.8 billion, but the distribution sector will receive a contribution of R$ 1.8 billion. "We have a record number of investments in 2011. We will commit about R$ 9 billion of the expected 12.2 billion. The difference is basically due to the difficulty and delay in obtaining environmental licenses”, said José da Costa.

He also presented the plans for the internationalization of the company. "Although we have not become winners of EDP's acquisition process, we gained a great experience and we believe that our internationalization strategy is correct”, the President emphasized, noting that Eletrobras wants to obtain 10% of its revenue from overseas operations by 2020. “For the next year we are planning on finishing the preparation of our portfolio of international projects, starting the works in Tumarín power plant, in Nicaragua, in addition to continue with the Transmission Line shared with Uruguay and the binational plants of Garabi and Panambi, with Argentina”, he concluded.
